| In one way, L. A. Mott’s Thinking
Through the Bible series is an apologetic aimed at producing
and sustaining faith. Thinking Through John and Thinking
Through Acts contain convincing testimony to produce the faith
that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. But once a person has
accepted Jesus, he can logically accept whatever Jesus taught, either
personally or through his chosen apostles. At that point Ephesians
and Colossians contribute to the apologetic for Christianity. Wise
men of the world do not have a clue to the meaning and goal of history.
But the simplest disciple of Jesus knows the secret, because the
Lord Jesus has given him Ephesians.
But when someone asks: How do you
know that other religions do not have insights that we need for
salvation and for life? Draw Colossians from the arsenal. For this
epistle is a demonstra-tion of the fulness Christians have in Christ,
enabling them to answer this question by saying: Because I know
what I have in Christ!
